W1M invests in talent and technology with new Head of AI
London, UK – 30 September 2026 – W1M Wealth Management Ltd (“W1M” or “the firm”), the wealth and investment management firm for high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals and families, charities, and institutions, announces the appointment of Wenyu Bai to the newly created Head of AI role. The latest investment to increase W1M’s operational capacity and AI adoption has been made to support the firm’s continued growth.
Bai joins W1M from St James’s Place during a period of continued growth and investment. She has more than 18 years of experience across wealth management, pension investment consultancy, and AI and automation leadership. A recognised industry voice on the application of AI in wealth management, she brings deep industry insight and a strong track record in AI strategy, governance, innovation and adoption.
In her new role, Bai will lead and shape W1M’s vision and approach to AI, helping to drive the responsible use of emerging technologies across the business while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, innovation and client outcomes. She will lead the responsible adoption and firm-wide rollout of AI technology across the business, ensuring that W1M remains competitive over the long term and can help deliver continued business growth. Bai will be supported in her role by W1M’s Chief Technology Officer, Edward Blake.
Bai’s appointment is part of a broader investment in W1M’s future as the firm builds on the momentum of its recent growth. It also reflects the calibre of talent the firm is attracting since its merger two years ago. W1M recorded 16 net hires and approximately 4.5% headcount growth in Q1 2026. Alongside expanding its specialist capabilities, the firm is investing in the leadership and talent needed to turn that momentum into long-term growth and maintain the quality of service its clients expect.
Chief People Officer Shahina Kasak has been instrumental in shaping W1M’s people strategy since joining in 2025. She has focused on building a unified culture, attracting exceptional talent and ensuring the firm has the leadership and capability required to support its next phase of growth. Shahina brings extensive experience leading people and organisational transformation, having held senior leadership roles at Apollo, Itaú Unibanco and Jefferies.
Guy McGlashan, Chief Executive Officer at W1M, said:
“In recent times, W1M has continued to enhance its client proposition, which is underpinned by impeccable client service, leading investment performance, comprehensive global reporting and first-class cross-border wealth management and planning. As we continue to attract new clients, we are investing deliberately in our operating platform, which equips our teams with the capabilities they need to serve clients effectively and support the firm’s continued growth. Bai’s appointment strengthens the leadership, technology and talent needed to embed AI responsibly and work more effectively at scale. Building this capacity now will help us manage greater complexity without compromising service quality. It gives W1M a resilient platform from which to innovate, remain competitive and deliver better outcomes for clients over the long term.”
