Sukh Chamdal: Co-Founder of Cake Box
Sukh Chamdal co-founded Cake Box, the UK's egg-free cake franchise business, which is now AIM-listed with an £80m market cap and over 180 shops nationwide.
The idea began in 2008, when Sukh's daughter asked for a birthday cake without eggs; drawing on his family's background in Indian sweets and catering, he developed a recipe and opened the first Cake Box store in East London, before co-founding the franchise model a year later.
We discuss what it takes to run a franchise business, key attributes Sukh looks for in employees and how he’s built such a recognisable brand.
